Climate

Grasslands are generally found inbetween deserts and  forests, this provides a mixture of both climates which creates a unique climate of it's own. On a typical day in any grassland, it can be very quiet. Because grasslands are typically seen at either low or high altitudes, it can generally be windy. One constant, everyday is an adventure.

Percipitation

(Missouri Botanical Garden)

This  graph shows the average amount of rainfall of grasslands compared to other biomes. They get about 20 inches more a year than deserts, but between 40 and 60 inches less than forests.  Percipitation is a very essentail abiotic point to grasslands, because of what they are made of. If it recieved anymore rain, then it would become a forest, and any less would be a dessert. (Missouri Botanical Garden 2)

Because there are two different types of grasslands, the percipitation (which includes not only rain but also snow, ect.) extremly varies between the types. Here are is a graph comparing the precipitation in Ndjamena, Chad and Fort Saskatchewan, Canada.

 Temperature

Another major factor of the grasslands is the temperature. This varies with each grassland's posistion on Earth. Areas closer to the equator, for example, support much more life and activity.

The Little Ice Age

This was one large example of ecological succession, and exteme climate change. It is mentioned because one of the most promient, visable changes are in the area today known as Greenland.
